Ronit is a speech and language pathologist and works full-time as a tenured teacher for the school district. She supplements her income by working with private home health clients as an independent contractor. Unfortunately, when her husband passed away 7 years ago she was left with a great deal of debt (over $100,000). Ronit initially came to HFLSD for assistance to purchase her car back after it had been repossessed. However, after careful review and consideration of her application, the HFLSD team realized it would serve her best to pay off the high interest loans she had. By paying off these loans, she was able to save on exorbitant interest rates. Ronit will be able, with the assistance of a financial advisor, to meet her remaining debt payments. This loan has set her on a path to financial freedom. In Ronit’s words, “I am extremely grateful. I can not express the change this will make in my life (and stress level). I made a poor decision in allowing myself to take out such a high interest loan. I just wanted to reach out and let you know you all make a difference in others’ lives.”
